Scams: Constant, Ever Changing, and Increasingly Creative.
Scams pop up without warning and the perpetrators are always thinking up new ways to deceive you. While we make every effort to alert you when we become aware of specific situations, we ask that you always be vigilant. Whether you’re answering the phone, checking your email, or opening the door, please keep the following in mind:
- At Newfoundland Power the collection of overdue accounts is always conducted in a professional and respectable manner.
- We do not go door-to-door randomly asking customers for payments. Prior notification of overdue balances is given beforehand.
- All outstanding amounts are indicated on your latest electricity bill, and the most up to date info is available online 24/7.
- Our employees are clearly identified and drive marked vehicles.
- Credit card payments are an option, not a requirement.
- If we call you regarding your account, we would never ask you to provide your account information to us. We already have all of the customer information we require.
If you suspect suspicious activity, first please call your local police department or Crime Stoppers (1-800-222-8477) and, second, let us know (1-800-663-2802) so we can get the word out to all customers.
